Since Treyarch announced it was working on the next title in the Call of Duty franchise, COD: Black Ops, the gaming world has been keenly watching for any mentions of a return of World at War’s famous zombie mode, and it seems the inclusion of the undead has finally been confirmed.

CVG recently took a sneak peak at BradyGames' official strategy guide to the game, which claims to offer, “a complete walkthrough to the gritty Cold War-era Campaign mode, tips and tricks to rank up in Multiplayer, how to excel in Co-Op, or fight back the relentless Nazi Zombie horde.”

The mode has been hinted at previously, but an official strategy guide is about as much proof as we need. Fans also recently pressed Treyarch community boss, Josh Olin, to reveal some possible co-op zombie mode info. His twitter reply read, “if zombies have anything to do with our top-secret Co-Op mode, then it's a safe bet there will be a trailer for it eventually...”

For those not in the know, Treyarch's previous game, Call of Duty: World at War, featured a highly enjoyable zombie mode named “nacht der untoten”, or in English, night of the undead. Players unlocked this mode upon finishing the game and was then treated to a zombie map so enjoyable that some players found it more fun than the game itself.

The new multiplayer 'survive-as-long-as-you-can' zombie mode proved a smash hit, with Treyarch releasing new zombie content in the form of a Japanese map pack a few months afterwards.

A couple of hours after this leak it seems Treyarch decided to spill the beans, with company boss Mark Lamia speaking about the changes they've made in the new undead mode.

"We continued to evolve [Nazi Zombies] after World At War - there was a dialogue going on with some of our hardcore community, and we were able to interact with the community and evolve - we did that with our zombie lore," he told Edge Magazine in a recent interview.

Suffice to say, the wait for Call of Duty: Black Ops just got about ten times more agonising. The game is being released on November 9th for the PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
