Fully established as the Telecommunications, ICT and Technology industry’s leading acknowledgement event, the AfricaCom Awards for 2015, is once again actively seeking Africa’s brightest and best candidates to honour.

With an average of some 200 entries per annum, the Awards provide an unparalleled showcase for displaying and heralding this sector’s corporate and individual heroes and heroines.  “These Awards are a vital cog in the entire industry’s ecosystem,” commented Adam Thompson Head of Content, Com World Series, “they are an effective means of objectively shining the light on some of the most ground-breaking and important developments in this sector.  Voted on by peers and an independent panel of judges, the winners are selected against stringent criteria, which give further credence to the importance of these credits.”

Two key categories attracting prominence in this year’s line-up are the ‘Best Connectivity Solution for Africa’ and the Changing Lives Award.  AfricaCom’s own mantra is support and develop connectivity in the digital communications arena, which is why this particular award has been a focus since the inception of the Awards programme, but even more so in 2015 as increasing amounts of the continent ‘comes online’.  Added to this is the showcasing of those individuals who demonstrate how developments in ICT are not solely for business growth but for a wider social good– spurring economic advance and wellbeing.

Taking place on the 18th November, at The Lookout, on Cape Town’s Waterfront, the festive event is a popular draw card on the AfricaCom agenda.  ‘We are glad to see that the event has grown not only in stature but in popularity too” said Gemma White, Events manager, AfricaCom, Informa Telecoms & Media, “Early submission of entries is advised as well as booking for tables to what is also known to be a fun night out.”
