From October, South African shoppers will be able to replace the bulky loyalty cards in their wallets with a universal mobile application called ReMe, that represents South Africa’s first universal loyalty app to offers consumers instant customised rewards from a range of their favourite brands.

According to Michael Zahariev, Co-Founder of ReMe, loyalty programmes are a key differentiator of customer buying behaviour in the market place, “Businesses that have been able to leverage these effectively have been able to captivate the minds of consumers and reward true brand loyalty.”

“However, we live in a digital age characterised by instant responses and gratification; so convenience, ease of use and relevant, easily redeemable rewards, are essential in maintaining customer participation in loyalty programmes. ReMe solves this with an app that is very simple to use and  speaks directly to customer preferences,” says Zahariev.

“Rewarding loyalty goes beyond purchase. Users will ultimately receive instant redemption points for anything from walking into the store to mentioning a brand to their friends on social media,” says Zahariev.

“Consumers can interact with loyalty programmes on  ReMe  in a very personalised way, rewarding you on your in app interactions by allowing you to win further monthly rewards through ReMe’s built-in lottery system.”

Customers use ReMe to keep track of their chosen loyalty programmes, and to discover new ones. An in-app system can be used to find the nearest stores or restaurants who support ReMe loyalty solutions.

Loyalty programs that succeed in differentiating a brand from another have one thing in common - they engage consumers on a level beyond just pure customer spending power.

“This induces a feeling within the consumer that they are valued as an individual because the loyalty programmes and prizes are customised to suit their needs,” adds Zahariev.

How ReMe works:

  • Customers download ReMe from the Google Play store or Apple App store onto their smartphones  for free and register their profiles. The users can then begin to discover ReMe’s three core functionalities.
  • Read: Customers can see the list of participating businesses on their app. When they visit a store or eatery ReMe users simply use their mobiles to scan and read ReMe QR codes at their favourite spots around town.
  • Reward: Once they’ve built up loyalty at their beloved locale, users can instantly and seamlessly claim a variety of custom rewards for their loyalty to that brand, via the app. Once users have enough loyalty points with a brand, they can choose a reward and redeem it by showing the nearest brand employee the confirmation. Similarly, users can go to the rewards section of the app and identify which rewards they qualify for and instantly redeem them.
  • Remember: ReMe remembers the customer’s favourite brands, while also keeping users up to date with a business’ latest deals and offers, through alerts posted onto the app via push messaging.

“The world is beginning to move away from clogged wallets and into a future where your phone is seemingly clogged with apps - replacing one issue with a similar one. ReMe attempts to leapfrog this evolutionary stepby eliminating the necessity for multiple loyalty apps on one phone, thus creating a universal digital loyalty network”, concludes Zahariev.

“Ultimately all you will need is one app on your phone to sign up, track and redeem rewards on all of the loyalty programmes you choose to engage with.”

ReMe can be used at: Wolf & Maiden, The Assembly, Superette, Bean There, Kelly Red Hair Salon and Ocean Jewels Fresh Fish.
