HID Global, worldwide leader in trusted identity solutions, have announced enhancements to its compact, cost-effective Lumidigm M-Series fingerprint solutions. Bringing the ease-of-use and reliability of multispectral imaging technology into challenging yet cost-sensitive applications such as time and attendance, physical access control, banking, and healthcare, the enhanced M‑Series enables OEMs and IT security integrators to deliver authentication solutions that ensure customers, staff and citizens are who they say they are, reducing identity fraud risk and minimizing user frustration.

“The M-Series family delivers proven biometric identity protection that outperforms competitors with reliable image capture for users in all conditions and high-performance liveness detection that prevents fraudulent use of fake or stolen biometric data,” said Mike Chaudoin, Sr. Director of Product Marketing with HID Global. “M‑Series solutions combine enhanced accuracy with a simple user experience that increases productivity while reducing threats from cyber criminals looking to impersonate legitimate users.”

With patented Lumidigm multispectral imaging technology, the M-Series captures fingerprint data from the skin’s surface and subsurface for reliable matching across all demographic groups in diverse operating conditions. Unlike other devices that use soft coatings or materials that are easily scratched or damaged, the hard glass surface of the M-Series provides durability that reduces field repairs.

Availability

Enhanced M-Series sensors and modules are available now in embedded (M32x) or streaming (M31x) operating modes. Key features include:

·         M32x embedded devices process biometric data on-device, with updated image capture firmware for 2x or better usability, double the 1:N search capacity, high-performance liveness detection, and a top MINEX III algorithm with ANSI 378 and ISO 19794-2 template support.

·         M31x streaming solutions gain new capabilities with the Lumidigm SDK 6.1 that includes improved 1:1 and 1:N performance on compatible USB hosts.

A new developer kit provides the tools needed to integrate these devices into existing M-Series applications, as well as enabling new designs and applications.
