The Cisco Broadband Survey shows that only 27% of South African internet users ensure their router firewall is switched on, and just 26% enable network encryption. Moreover, for 70% of South African internet users, password protection alone is the most common method of boosting online security. These numbers highlight the urgent need for increased awareness and implementation of more comprehensive security practices.
The data-intensive, real-time updates required to stay one step ahead in the fast-paced world of cyber threats need better broadband. Think of encryption, this vital data confidentiality and integrity tool requires higher bandwidth to run more robust algorithms.
