Canon South Africa delivered an immersive showcase of professional imaging technology at MediaTech Africa 2026 last week, showcasing an impressive array of cameras, features and options, for a variety of users, from broadcasters, filmmakers, content creators to production professionals.

One of the highlights was its to latest innovations in a live, multi-camera production environment.

Inspired by the imaginative world of Alice in Wonderland, the Canon stand transformed the exhibition space into a dynamic production set, demonstrating how Canon's imaging ecosystem seamlessly combines cameras, lenses and workflow solutions to support high-quality visual storytelling. Visitors experienced the Canon Multi-Cam Experience firsthand, with live camera feeds displayed across multiple monitors to showcase the exceptional colour reproduction, detail and image quality that Canon technology delivers.

Throughout the three-day exhibition, Gerald Langton and the Canon South Africa team guided visitors through the live production set-up, demonstrating how Canon's integrated imaging solutions enable flexible, efficient workflows for a wide range of broadcast, live production and content creation applications. The interactive environment allowed attendees to explore the technology at their own pace while gaining practical insight into real-world production scenarios.

One of the key highlights at the stand - apart from the Mad Hatter and the Red Queen playfully capturing attendee's attention - was the South African showcase of Canon's new EOS R6 V alongside the RF 20-50mm F4L IS USM PZ lens.

The company explained that the duo was designed to meet the evolving needs of hybrid creators and video professionals.

The EOS R6 V combines advanced full-frame imaging with features including 7K RAW open-gate recording, intelligent autofocus and in-body image stabilisation. Paired with Canon's first full-frame RF lens featuring integrated power zoom, the RF 20-50mm F4L IS USM PZ delivers smooth, precise zoom control for professional video production while maintaining exceptional optical performance.

Canon South Africa's innovative exhibition experience was recognised with the Platinum Stand Award for at MediaTech Africa 2026, acknowledging the creativity, technical execution and engaging visitor experience delivered throughout the event.

"MediaTech Africa provides an important platform for us to connect with the creative and broadcast community while demonstrating how Canon technology empowers visual storytelling," said Gerald Langton, Business Development Manager at Canon South Africa. "Our goal was to create an immersive environment where visitors could experience our imaging solutions in action, rather than simply viewing products on display. The enthusiastic response from attendees and the recognition of our stand reflects the value of creating meaningful, hands-on experiences that inspire creativity and innovation," he enthused.

Choosing Alice in Wonderland as a theme for their booth was fitting - not only because the company played on the Looking Glass theme, but because both Lewis Carrol's famous story, and photography as an artform have crossed generations and endured, timelessly.

Canon South Africa concluded by noting that its participation at MediaTech Africa 2026 ''reinforces the company's commitment to supporting the evolving needs of photographers, filmmakers, broadcasters and content creators through innovative imaging technology that delivers exceptional performance, reliability and creative flexibility.''
