Due to growing demand amongst resellers for assistance in establishing themselves as cloud businesses, WestconGroup Southern Africa has further bolstered its Microsoft technical support skills with a key appointment in this area.

The distributor, which is aggressively growing its Cloud Solutions business practice, has just appointed Rob Yates in the capacity of Microsoft pre-sales technical support. Today WestconGroup already holds significant market share in the Microsoft distribution space, and because of growing demand for its skills in this area of competencies, Yates will prove to be an asset to partners looking to grow their own internal competencies.

With close to 20 years of experience in the ICT industry and having served tenures at leading systems integrations, Yates brings to the position extensive project knowledge, technical skills across a myriad product competencies of which Microsoft forms a core component, as well as sales, marketing and account management skills.

“Our Cloud business is bursting at the seams and in order to deliver on the service delivery promise we have mapped out for our partners we need to have the right skills in place,” states Leane Hannigan, Cloud Solutions Director at WestconGroup Southern Africa.

“Rob’s appointment highlights just how committed we are to growing the cloud business component of our partner’s future business, while at the same time ensuring that they have the technical competencies in place at their distributor, to fall back on, should they need to,” she adds.

WestconGroup Southern Africa was awarded Microsoft Cloud and Volume Licensing Distributor of the year 2013 & 2014 AND SPLA hosting Distributor of the year (Growth in Reach) in 2014. Its Microsoft competencies include Microsoft Gold Distributor; Microsoft Gold Volume Licensing Distributor; Microsoft Silver Communications Distributor and Microsoft Silver Datacentre Distributor.
