Curro eSports, a leading provider of competitive gaming opportunities for young learners, is setting the stage for the second instalment of their electrifying Curro Clash LAN.

This gaming extravaganza will unfold on Friday, June 23, and Saturday, June 24, at Curro Durbanville Primary School in Cape Town. For the very first time, other schools are being invited to join in the eSports action alongside Curro schools, develop their skills and compete against other learners to win fantastic prizes.

The Games

Over two adrenaline-fueled days, approximately 200 young gamers from primary and high schools across the Western Cape will have the opportunity to participate in a variety of spine-tingling titles, including Minecraft Education Capture the Flag, Valorant, Overwatch 2 and Rocket League.

Each team will play the same number of games and their scores ranked to find the winners who will take home a fantastic selection of prizes, sponsored by Acer for Education. Schools can either enter an entire teams or individuals can register a team of friends, as long as learners are between the ages of 12 and 18.

Ever since the launch of the first internal league for Curro schools during the pandemic, Curro eSports has been leading the way in crafting a solid school-level eSports community for its learners and developing a new level of digital learning. Through its partnership with Acer for Education, the independent school group has integrated eSports into their extra-curricular programmes and even launched a secure eSports gaming platform so learners can remain safe whilst online.

Magdeleen de Kock, Curro’s Digital Transformation Facilitator and eSports project lead, expressed the group’s vision, stating, “Our partnership with Acer allowed Curro to set the stage for numerous inter-Curro eSports tournaments since 2021. We want to continue redefining the landscape of eSports throughout South Africa and share this phenomenal experience with fellow schools, especially primary school learners, as there are currently limited eSports opportunities for them.”

“This exciting clash is not just a great opportunity for school gamers to show off their skills, but it is also a fantastic way to showcase a school’s strengthened commitment to developing generations for a digital world. We encourage all schools in the Western Cape to join us for this event. Only then can we forge a unified offering of eSports in Education."

Join the revolution today

Entry fees are R200 per station, which includes a comfortable chair, enough tablespace, and LAN, and power connections. A selection of food stalls and other exhibitors will be available on-site for gamers and their supporters.
