Everyone looks forward to a long weekend. It’s a bonus holiday in the middle of the typical work cycle that lets you relax, rejuvenate and enjoy time to yourself or with friends and family. The Easter weekend is perhaps the most anticipated of all these mini-holidays, the last “free time off” you’ll get until Christmas rolls around once more.

For step-by-step guidance on how to get the most out of your Easter Weekend goals, YouTube has a broad variety of “how-to” videos to help you optimise time and effort. There’s undoubtedly something that will appeal to all comers - from beginners to buffs, from amateurs to enthusiasts.

Some suggestions on what to do this Easter Weekend:

Host a Sunday lunch

You want to host a get together, but you’re at a total loss over where to start. What should you cook? How should you cook it? A quick YouTube search for “Sunday lunch ideas” yields thousands of results: everything from top chefs such as Gordon Ramsay and Jamie Oliver showing you how to prepare the perfect roast beef or lamb to home cooks sharing their family recipes for desserts and other treats.

Suggestions cover all diets and food preferences such as paleo meal ideas, Indian-style cuisine and cold dishes and desserts.

And if you’re looking to host a truly memorable event, there are numerous YouTube videos with fabulous table setting ideas to guide you in setting a table worthy of a five-star restaurant.

Host a cocktail party

Spending the day in the kitchen doesn’t appeal to everyone, so perhaps hosting from behind the bar is more your cup of Irish coffee. There are thousands of cocktail recipes available on YouTube – the classic, the cutting-edge and the curious.

Whether you’re shaking martinis for the first time or refining your mixology skills, you’ll be able to find guides on everything from equipment to ingredients to technique delivered by experts and fellow enthusiasts alike.

Home makeover

Spring may yet be months away, but there’s no reason not to get a head start on organising your life – out with the old, as they say. Cut out the clutter with YouTube videos demonstrating how to optimise storage space and offering useful “life hacks” to speed up the big clean.

And once you’re done clearing out that spare room or garage, you can move onto phase two – in with the new.

YuoTube DIY videos cover every topic imaginable: “How to renovate a bathroom”, “transform your spare room into a walk-in closet”, “how to turn your garage into an extra room” and “desk and home office decorating ideas”, to name a handful.

For the even more DIY-minded among you, YouTube can aid you in restoring and customising old furniture or even building your own furniture from scratch.

Brew your own craft beer

Craft beer and micro-breweries have become hugely popular around the world. A few tips are all you need to throw your hat in the ring. From advice on what equipment you need, the best ratio of water, hops and barley to ensure you get the desired taste (bitter, blond or brown, whichever your preference), to the best way to bottle the end product, YouTube might just turn you into the world’s next master brewer.
