African telecommunications company Paratus Telecom has entered the local telecoms market by acquiring Maxwell Technology (Pty) Limited, a full-spectrum end-to-end connectivity solutions provider.

Paratus Telecom South Africa aims to be the connectivity solutions facilitator of choice for all companies expanding into Africa. With a presence in over 22 countries, it is well positioned to address any connectivity requirements.

The company has 3000 active satellite terminals across Africa and is the second largest operator of iDirect Hubs providing communication services to Africa. It operates hubs in the UK, South Africa, Luanda, and Namibia.

Paratus Telecom COO Schalk Erasmus says Maxwell Technology was a perfect fit. "As an independent provider of last-mile, satellite-based, connectivity and access solutions for their mining and engineering clients in Africa, Maxwell quickly evolved to a full-spectrum, end-to-end connectivity solutions provider to clients from predominantly un-served and under-served areas."

"It is our job to find the customer the right, yet cost effective solution anywhere," adds Paratus Telecom SA managing director Kallie Carlsen. "We have a strong presence throughout Africa, ideal for South African companies wishing to expand their operations into the rest of Africa."

Through either its own networks or infrastructure or via carefully selected partnerships, Paratus Telecom can tailor solutions ranging from VSAT, Point to Point Wireless, Fibre, Diginet and LTE. Connectivity solutions can be tailored to meet the needs of users spanning from corporate level, secure private networks and MPLS, right down to cost effective solutions for SME and home users.

"Our partnerships in SA allow us to be a connectivity services aggregator, a one stop shop for all managed connectivity services," he concludes.
