Since officially arriving in South Africa in 2016, innovative technology brand TECNO has been making moves to grow its reach in the country. These moves are continuing, with TECNO planning strongly for the future in order to disrupt the market further.
The brand is looking to replicate the success it has had in other African countries, particularly Kenya and Nigeria. While figures vary depending on what research house is consulted, it is undeniable that TECNO has found the key to what smartphone users are looking for – quality, reliable devices that offer great value for money.
Just this year, TECNO has introduced five new smartphones into South Africa (SPARK 10 Pro, SPARK 10 5G, SPARK 10C, SPARK GO 2023, and POP 7), ranging from upper entry-level to upper mid-range, depending on a user’s needs and budget.
More Than Just Phones
Aside from smartphones, TECNO has also brought six new smart tech accessories and wearables to the country. These are TECNO Sonic 1 Active True Wireless Earphones, TECNO Buds 3 earphones, TECNO Square S3 speaker, TECNO Watch 2, TECNO 4G Portable WiFi TR109 router, and the Snow Robot Home Security WiFi Camera TH300. Bringing convenience, fun and innovation to users is at the heart of everything that TECNO does.
Other notable highlights in the past two years for TECNO in South Africa have been the brand’s on-the-ground activities. These have included involvement in the 2022 South African Music Awards (SAMAs), participation in the 2022 South African Social Media Awards (SASMAs), giving R80,000 to an entrepreneur in the #SparkYourHustle competition, and a partnership with CarMag for motor racing’s Extreme Festival. The brand is constantly looking at ways to showcase itself while at the same time partnering with events and activities that bring value, entertainment and fun to people’s lives.
TECNO’s smartphones, accessories and wearables are available from select retail partners, including Ackermans, Edgars, Game, Jet, Makro, Mr Price, TFG, and Vodacom (availability varies per retailer and per model and while stocks last).
