Verbatim has announced an advancement in the micro storage sector - an SDXC class 10 memory card with 64 GB capacity.

The new SDXC (SD eXtended Capacity) Flash card is designed to handle large volumes of data at lightning speed and provides users more portable storage.

The new SDXC (SD eXtended Capacity) flash card is the largest of its kind and is designed for use in mobile phones, camcorders, digital cameras and applicable gaming devices. It features a UHS-I bus interface which offers up to 104 MB/s transfer speed, an exFAT filing system and is compatible with Windows 7, Windows Vista and Windows XP.

Two advances in technology make it possible to handle larger volumes of data than on SDHC cards. On the one hand the exFAT file system, on the other hand the UHS-I bus interface with speeds up to 104 MB per second. While SDHC cards provide storage capacities up to 32 GB only, the SDXC (SD eXtended Capacity) memory card from Verbatim stores 64 GB of data, offering enough space for over 20,000 10-megapixel JPEG images with fine mode or 8 hours recording with Full HD video mode.

The exFAT file system enables the SDXC card to handle those large volumes of data. Additionally, the UHS-I bus interface transfers movies, videos, pictures, games, eBooks, mobile apps or navigation maps with speeds up to 104 MB/s.

“Users of digital cameras can shoot more pictures per second than ever before with that technology so a shot at goal by a football player, for example, can now be captured in far more detail. Moreover, with private users becoming more professional with their camcorder filming, SDXC cards offer the opportunity to record professional videos as well,” comments Manny Cross, manager - Sub Sahara Africa at Verbatim.
