Android 2.0 SDK released
By Hanleigh Daniels 28 October 2009 | Categories: newsGoogle announced yesterday, 27 October 2009, that the Android operating system’s software development kit (SDK) now supports Android 2.0 (also known as Eclair).
Among the new features of the SDK is support for multiple email account synchronisation, full support for Microsoft Exchange, support for Bluetooth 2.1, multi-touch control and a zoom support for digital cameras.
Other notable features include the ability to build a Quick Contact function that allows the user to click on a photograph and not just view it, but get the option to call, send a message or instantly email that contact.
The software responsible for the graphics of the OS has also been enhanced in order to make applications more attractive to users and the dictionary has also undergone an overhaul so that it now “learns” frequently used words.
Unfortunately, the first device that Android 2.0 will become available on is the Motorola Droid, scheduled for release in November in the US. No word as yet when it will be available in South Africa.
