Apple rocks 1 million iPads
By Hanleigh Daniels 3 May 2010 | Categories: newsApple has announced that it has sold its 1 millionth iPad, taking less than a month (28 days) to do so and also halving the time it took the iPhone to surpass a million units sold.
The iPad hit the magical million mark on Friday, with the owners of these iPads having downloaded over 1.5 million eBooks from the iBook store and over 12 million iPad apps from the App Store. Cupertino's iPad can run most of the 200 000+ apps available on the App Store, with developers having created over 5 000 apps to run specifically on the device.
“One million iPads in 28 days—that’s less than half of the 74 days it took to achieve this milestone with iPhone,” said Steve Jobs, Apple’s CEO. “Demand continues to exceed supply and we’re working hard to get this magical product into the hands of even more customers.”
