Apple vs. Samsung - Apple scores another victory
By Hanleigh Daniels 13 October 2011 | Categories: newsApple is still gaining traction in its ongoing patent battle against Samsung, with the Cupertino-based iPhone and iPad maker scoring another victory against its Korean competitor.
According to the Wall Street Journal, a judge in Australia upheld a temporary injunction that prevents Samsung from selling its Galaxy Tab 10.1 tablet in that country. Justice Annabelle Bennett found that Samsung tablet can't be sold in Australia if it used features the likes of touch-screen technology that Apple claims infringe upon patents used in its popular iPad.
This latest development follows in the wake of Apple rejecting an offer from Samsung to settle their dispute in that country. Australia is not the only destination where Samsung can’t sell their Galaxy Tab 10.1 tablet, as a court in Dusseldorf also found that Samsung’s latest tablet had copied Apple’s iPad. This resulted in the Korean manufacturer being barred from selling its tablet in Germany.
The company was also forced to remove the recently unvield Galaxy Tab 7.7 from its IFA stand, after Apple won an injunction in Germany, banning Samsung from selling and marketing this product.
