Now in its seventh year, the Audio Video Appliance (AVA) Expo kicks off today. Held at the Sandton Convention Centre in Johannesburg the expo showcases the latest in the world of consumer electronics, with the public being able to buy direct from the big brands. It runs till Sunday, 1 November.

AVA features the latest products from all the official South African agents and leaders in TV, DVD and home theatre, photographic equipment, mobile, computing and much more. Some of the big brands present at the event include LG, Sony, Nikon, Samsung, Defy and Russell Hobbs.

There will also be a number of competitions such as the Guitar Hero play-offs to celebrate the launch of Guitar Hero 5, Ergo-Tilt give-aways and the Shooting Star photograpy competition sponsored by Canon.

Visitors to AVA are also able to partake in free photographic and audio-visual expos that run each day. More info can be found on their website at www.avaexpo.co.za. Tickets are R40 and doors open at 10 am.
