After launching the DStv Drifta as well as the Drifta USB, DStv Mobile has now announced another mobile TV device, this time aimed at the ever growing Apple device market.

The iDrifta is a plug-and-play mobile DVB-H receiver exclusively for iOS devices, including the 4th generation iPod, the iPhone 4 and 4S and all of the iPads.

“Using the iDrifta is very easy, you simply plug it into an iOS device, the application opens automatically and viewing can begin right away” said Mark Rayner, CEO of DStv Mobile.

The DStv Mobile bouquet includes a selection of SuperSport channels (1, 2, 3, 4 and Blitz), M-Net Series Mobile, Sony MAX, AfricaMagic, Cartoon Network, Discovery Channel and CNNi, amongst others. Just as with other DStv Mobile devices, subscription stands at R49 per month, although DStv Premium subscribers pay no additional subscription fee to access DStv Mobile.

The recommended retail price is R499 and the device will be available from MultiChoice service centres, select retail outlets and online stores from 11 June 2012. DStv Mobile coverage is available in the nine major cities of South Africa: Johannesburg, Pretoria, Bloemfontein, Cape Town, Rustenburg, Mbombela, Polokwane, Port Elizabeth and Durban.

The iDrifta will not work on Mac OS X devices, but DStv Mobile has recently announced that the Drifta and Drifta USB are now compatible with this operating system. The company has also recently launched the Walka Handheld TV.
