Update: Pricing for the single function WorkForce Pro WP-4000 series starts at R2305 for the Epson WorkForce Pro WP-4015 DN, whilst pricing for the WorkForce Pro WP-4500 MFP series kicks off at R2850 for the Epson WorkForce Pro WP-4515 DN,
up to R6364 for the WorkForce Pro WP-4595 DNF.

Electronics firm Epson has introduced a series of inkjet single and multi-function printers (MFPs) yesterday evening at a function held in Montecasino in Johannesburg.

According to the Japanese company its new Workforce Pro range has been specifically designed as an alternative to costlier laserjet printers, and are tasked with delivering quality output, durability, as well as cost and energy efficiency to small and medium-sized businesses (SMEs).

Epson stated that its WorkForce Pro WP-4000 series of single-function printers and WorkForce Pro WP-4500 series of MFPs offer laser-like printing performance, combined with reliability, a snappy automatic double-sided printing function and up to 50% lower cost per page compared to the equivalent laser units.

Corporate users will also benefit from lower ink costs via these devices’ high-yield cartridges that print up to 3400 pages, while offering a higher print resolution compared to their laser counterparts of up to 4800 x 1200 dpi.

In addition the units deliver a high duty cycle of up 20 000 pages, enabling savings in terms of servicing costs. Printing speeds of up to 16 ppm (pages per minute) mono and 11 ppm colour are also offered, whilst users will not have to refill the paper draw that often, courtesy of a paper capacity of 330 sheet as standard or up to 580 sheets with an added optional tray.

Kelvin Reynolds, general manager of Epson South Africa said: “The WorkForce Pro line-up offers small, medium and large businesses a new approach to printing based on choice, performance, economy and ecology. We understand that businesses need high-quality, reliable, functional, high-performance and cost-effective products which the WorkForce Pro range affords them.”

Reynolds also pointed out that the WorkForce Pro range largely caters to the business environment, due to the fact that the models within this range offer an affordable alternative to laser printer technology.

“We have taken our core technology and expertise, and have placed it into the business market to offer something innovative and appealing to our customers. The combination of lower running costs, reduced up-front capital costs and reduced environmental impact holds an overwhelming appeal to businesses seeking efficient printing solutions,” Reynolds concluded.

In other printer related news, Lexmark recently introduced its new OfficeEdge Series of MFPs, the OfficeEdge Pro4000 and OfficeEdge Pro5500, which the firm says is suited to be employed as a workhorse for small workgroups within enterprise and small to medium-sized businesses.
