Lost Planet 2 sheds some (content) weight
 
Just like Final Fantasy XIII developers, Square Enix, Capcom is experiencing some difficulty fitting all the content for their upcoming FPS, Lost Planet 2, onto a single Xbox 360 DVD disk. But unlike the FFXIII creators, Capcom have elected to slash content from the final version of the game, rather than using multiple DVD disks.   
 
Game developers leave Wii for PS3
 
Sony Computer Entertainment America's (SCEA) senior vice president of publisher relations Rob Dyer recently said, in an interview with IndustryGamers, that game developers are flocking from Nintendo’s Wii console to the PS3, as they want a better return on their investment. “In the past, it was ‘Look how hot the Wii is’…We should put resources there,” Dyer explained. Now they've realised that “third-party product just doesn’t sell on that platform. So now they’re taking those resources, coming back to us and saying, Sony we’re going to be able to provide you with that exclusive content, or we’re going to put more engineers on it and figure out [how] to maximize the Blu-ray and get more out of [the] PS3.”   
 
Civilization V in the pipeline
 
2K Games announced yesterday that Sid Meier’s Civilization V, the next chapter in this popular strategy-based franchise, is currently being developed by Firaxis Games for the PC. Fans of the series can apparently look forward to a new graphics engine, featuring “stunning organic landscapes” that you’ll be able to explore as you expand your empire within the game, as well as more realistic gameplay. 
 
Heavy Rain expected for this month
 
Sony Computer Entertainment Europe (SCEE) made it known that the PlayStation 3 action adventure game, Heavy Rain, will be available by 24 February in PAL markets, which includes South Africa.
