Memory solutions provider Kingston Technology has announced the launch of its Kingston DataTraveler Ultimate 3.0 Generation 2 (G2) flash drives.
 
The DataTraveler Ultimate 3.0 G2 is Kingston’s fastest USB flash drive, and makes use of a native USB 3.0 controller for better performance and power management. More importantly  Kingston’s ultimate flash drive boasts a read speed of up to 100 MB/s, and a write speed of up to 70 MB/s.
 
It is also backward compatible with USB 2.0 ports, delivering read and write speeds of around 30 MB/s when plugged into a USB 2.0 connection. The DataTraveler Ultimate 3.0 G2 is available in 16 GB, 32 GB as well as 64 GB capacities.
 
Availability
 
“Kingston is committed to help drive market adoption of the new USB 3.0 standard and make it more accessible to the mass market,” said Grant Rau, business development manager, Kingston Technology South Africa.
 
“The growing number of platforms and computers supporting the USB 3.0 standard as well as the benefits of the single chip controllers that allow better compatibility and performance are helping drive the adoption of USB 3.0 technology.”
 
Pricing for the Kingston DataTraveler Ultimate 3.0 Generation 2 start at R582 for the 16 GB model, with the 32 GB drive going for R872 and the 64 GB model carrying a recommended retail pricetag of R1605.
 
The company also recently unveiled its HyperX memory kits, which is primarily aimed at the IT enthusiast and hardcore gamers.
