LG unveils its first near full 3D notebook
By Johan Keyter 28 September 2010 | Categories: newsLG Electronics today announced the new Xnote A510, the world's first premium notebook offering that will deliver both a cinematic 3D experience coupled with near full HD video quality.
To achieve these powerful visual effects the LG Xnote A510 is equipped with some unique muscle. The notebook features a 15.6” HD 3D LED LCD display powered by an Intel Core i7 CPU and Nvidia GeForce GT 425M graphics card (GPU) with 1 GB of dedicated DDR3 memory.
Taking care of the 3D effects are a pair of polarised glasses that ships with the device and LG has also seen it fit to include a set of clip-on 3D lenses which wearers of regular glasses can clip over their existing pair.
Okay, so now we have a 3D capable notebook, but no 3D content? LG takes care of that as well by equipping the A510 with TriDef software which can convert 2D content into 3D content on demand. With the TriDef software users can view all their favourite content in up-converted 3D.
"3D is increasingly becoming a common part of the home entertainment landscape so it's against this backdrop that we're working to make this technology better and more accessible for consumers," said Dr. Skott Ahn, president and CEO of LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company.
The notebook will also sport a programmable fingerprint reader, able to provide quick access to the most frequently used programs and websites, while also of course easing the log in process.
