Mozilla has announced the release of the latest beta version of Firefox 4 for Android-running smartphones as well as Maemo-powered devices, the likes of the Nokia N900.  
 
According to the company, this new release is the fastest performing Firefox 4 Beta for mobile thus far. It boasts faster start-up- and page load times as well as being more responsive whilst users are employing such functionality as panning and zooming. The Firefox Mobile Add-ons Gallery also offers north of 100 add-ons, which can be utilise to customise the browser.
 
“Our recent tests on JavaScript benchmarks show Firefox 4 Beta is faster than the stock Android browser; roughly three times faster on Kraken, about twice as fast on SunSpider and slightly faster on V8,”  the company stated in a blogpost.
 
The new release also brings more stability, reduces installation memory usage, improves readability with zooming and addresses a few keyboard issues.
 
Users can download the latest version of Firefox 4 Beta for Android from the Android Market, while the Maemo version can be found at www.firefox.com/mobile/beta for the Nokia N900 smartphone.
