If you’re being honest with yourself, the Logitech Harmony 900 remote was a little over the top, unless you’re a serious power user. Simultaneously controlling 15 devices via a LCD screen on your remote is awesome, but it isn't something anyone we know does.

Logitech will soon be launching the Harmony 300i universal remote however, and it looks to be a far easier sell to the wife than the 900. It doesn't feature a LCD screen and you can only program up to four devices. The whole programming process is supposedly made easy however thanks to Logitech’s online device library (more than 225000 devices) and web based setup.

“Most universal remotes have a bad reputation for being hard to program and, as a result, you still use more than one remote to control the devices you own,” says Romain du Gardier, Sales & Marketing Manager for Logitech Southern Africa.

The remote is set to launch early June in South Africa and will carry a recommended retail price of R350.
