Logitech mouses to work on glass
By Thomas McKinnon 20 August 2009 | Categories: newsLogitech claim to have made a mouse, two actually, that can be used on almost any surface, including glass.
The new Logitech Performance Mouse MX and Anywhere Mouse MX feature what Logitech terms Darkfield Laser Tracking. Unlike conventional tracking technologies which track texture changes on a surface, the new Logitech tracking technology picks up microscopic particles and micro-scratches on high-gloss surfaces. This does however mean that glass must be at least 4 mm thick for the laser to effectively track movement.
"Thanks to Logitech Darkfield, whether you're checking the morning news from the granite counter top in your kitchen or at work manipulating a spreadsheet from your glass desk, you can be confident that your Logitech mouse will be up to the task," said Romain du Gardier, Sales & Marketing Manager - Southern Africa.
The Performance MX and the Anywhere Mouse MX will be available from this month with expected retail prices of R1199 and R999 respectively.
