Lulz Security returns with a vengeance
By Hanleigh Daniels 19 July 2011 | Categories: newsAfter seemingly calling it quits last month, rogue hacker group LulzSec comes out of hibernation to find itself in the media spotlight once again. On Monday the group targeted embattled News Corporation and its media mogul owner, Rupert Murdoch, posting a fake story of his death on the News Corp owned The Sun newspaper.
According to News Republic, the British tabloid quickly took down the fake story of the 80 year old media mogul’s demise. This fake article stated that Murdoch had been discovered dead in his garden, after ingesting palladium.
LulzSec also claims to have hacked the homepage of the phone hacking scandal hit News International, as well as the webpage of its sister paper The Times.
“We have owned Sun/News of the World - that story is simply phase 1 - expect the lulz to flow in coming days,” the group warned on its Twitter page.
