After seemingly calling it quits last month, rogue hacker group LulzSec comes out of hibernation to find itself in the media spotlight once again. On Monday the group targeted embattled News Corporation and its media mogul owner, Rupert Murdoch, posting a fake story of his death on the News Corp owned The Sun newspaper.

According to News Republic, the British tabloid quickly took down the fake story of the 80 year old media mogul’s demise. This fake article stated that Murdoch had been discovered dead in his garden, after ingesting palladium.

LulzSec also claims to have hacked the homepage of the phone hacking scandal hit News International, as well as the webpage of its sister paper The Times.

“We have owned Sun/News of the World - that story is simply phase 1 - expect the lulz to flow in coming days,” the group warned on its Twitter page.

In related news on the hacking front, Lady Gaga’s UK website has also been hacked, with the personal details of thousands of her fans stolen in an attack by US hacking outfit SwagSec.

“The hackers took a content database dump from www.ladygaga.co.uk and a section of email, first name and last name records were accessed. There were no passwords or financial information taken,” a statement from Universal (Lady Gaga is signed to Universal Music) read. “We take this very seriously and have put in place additional measures to protect personally identifiable information. All those affected have been advised.”

SwagSec reportedly hacked the singer’s site to “prove a point” and have accused Lady Gaga of homophobia, implying that the artist is profiting from “bashing gays”.
