Microsoft has responded to the move by Google to start phasing out Microsoft’s Windows operating system (OS) on company computers, due to security concerns in the aftermath of the hacking attacks that originated in China.

Brandon LeBlanc, who runs Microsoft’s The Windows Blog, thinks it’s a little hypocritical of Google and provides readers with a link to a story from Mashable covering the delayed adoption of Gmail and other Google Apps at Yale University over security concerns. He also lists recent steps undertaken by Microsoft to make their OS more secure, including the improvements of BitLocker for disc encryption in Windows 7, as well as additional improvements to the built-in Windows Firewall for enhanced protection.

“When it comes to security, even hackers admit we’re doing a better job making our products more secure than anyone else,” LeBlanc wrote. “And it’s not just the hackers; third party influentials and industry leaders like Cisco tell us regularly that our focus and investment continues to surpass others.”
