Activision has announced the availability of the first new multiplayer downloadable content (DLC) for its record-setting title, Call of Duty: Black Ops. This DLC is now globally available via Xbox LIVE Marketplace for the Xbox 360 for 1200 Microsoft Points.

Treyarch’s Call of Duty: Black Ops - First Strike adds five new maps set in locations from around the globe. The first of these is called ‘Berlin Wall’, a new map surrounding the iconic barrier, allowing players to access both sides of Cold War Berlin. Next up is ‘Stadium’, enabling fast paced and close-quarters combat within a sports complex.

‘Discovery’ is set at an abandoned German outpost along the coast of Antarctica, while ‘Kowloon’ sees combat taking place across the tiered levels of high-rises and rooftops within Kowloon City, Hong Kong. The penultimate map is ‘First Strike’, which expands on the popular Zombie mode within the game, whilst the last new level ‘Ascension’ also sees gamers going up against hoards of zombie monkeys and Soviet zombies in a Cold War era cosmodrome.

“Our fans mean everything to us,” said Mark Lamia, studio head, Treyarch, “so we are thrilled to be able to provide the Black Ops community with exciting new gameplay that will extend their multiplayer and Zombies experiences.”

“The team has given it their all, as we crafted the maps in “First Strike” while taking into account our community to make sure that this content delivers compelling and unique experiences that will appeal to all different play styles.”

In November Call of Duty: Black Ops broke theatrical box office, book and video game sales records for five-day opening worldwide sell through, by producing sales of over $650 million for Activision.
