10 billion Apple tracks 

 

Apple announced that it is about to hit the 10 billion mark in songs downloaded from its iTunes music service. If you are the lucky person to download the 10 billionth song, then Apple is going to reward you with a $10 000 iTunes gift card, but only if you reside in a pre-selected country and South Africa isn’t one of them (damn rotten Apple).

 

 

NASA and General Motors (GM) are joining forces in order to speed up the development of the next generation of robots and related technologies that will be used in the automotive, as well as the aerospace industries. NASA wants to make robots that will be working alongside astronauts, entering places where it’s too dangerous for people to go, whilst GM wants to develop safer cars and assembly processes which combine robotic technology together with workers in the assembly plants.

 

In related news, NASA launched a satellite on a mission to study the Sun in more detail than ever before, and if you’re an iPhone owner you’ll later be able to obtain some of the fruits of this new study for free, as it will become available via an iPhone app called 3D Sun.

 

Fruity deal is absurdly expensive  

 

Google is reportedly paying Apple $100 million (over R765 million) per year in a revenue sharing deal that gives the search giant the privilege of being the default search engine on the Californian Tech company’s popular iPhone.  

 

 

Seagate revealed on Tuesday what they are calling the “world’s highest capacity, [and] most reliable small form factor enterprise drive.” Their Savvio 10K.4 2.5" form factor drive sports a disk capacity of 600 GB, possesses a spindle speed of 10 000 RPM and features a Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF) of two million hours.  

 

 

According to Engadget Adobe has revealed that it received over 7 million download requests for its Flash player from iPhone and iPod touch owners during the month of December alone.
