After yesterday’s revelation that 3D television may be hazardous to your health, UK based organisation The Eyecare Trust has revealed that up to 12% of British citizens may be unable to view stereoscopic three dimensional content due to poor binocular vision.

3-D technology relies on our eyes’ ability to work together as a coordinated team to achieve an accurate perception of depth.

“However, more than one in ten of us (12%) has a visual impairment that means our brains are unable to correctly process the individual images that are transmitted to it via our left and right eyes” commented the organization in a recent statement.

“This leads to an inconsistency in viewing the three spatial dimensions (height, width and depth) required to enjoy 3-D films in all their glory”

It appears therefore that things are looking less than rosy for the likes of Samsung, Sony and LG, who have pushed millions towards the development and manufacture of 3D enabled devices.

Nonetheless, we doubt that this information will have any serious impact on the sales of 3D televisions in the future. Despite this, the public are beginning to become more aware of the health dangers that may be associated with stereoscopic imagery.
