Twitter offer front page search
By Thomas McKinnon 30 July 2009 | Categories: newsTwitter has had a little rethink about their landing page in a bid to attract new users.
The redesigned front page now includes a search bar and up to the minute topic trends. In a blog post released on Tuesday, Twitter co-founder, Biz Stone said the redesign was helpful in “demonstrating the power of Twitter as a discovery engine for what is happening right now.”
The update highlights a growing trend towards social indexing. Human indexed content, as opposed to search engine indexed content, has the advantage of real-time relevance as humans follow stories or comment on current happenings.
Stone went on to say, “[w]e\'ll likely continue to make changes to the Twitter home page as we respond to feedback and ideas. We\'re eager to see if encouraging a sense of wonder and discovery leads to a better first impression of Twitter.”
