Twitter surpasses 200 million active daily user mark
By Hanleigh Daniels 20 December 2012 | Categories: newsAfter recently recapping 2012 via the latest edition of its annual Year In Review report that details the top tweets and discussion-evoking events of the year, microblogging site Twitter now announces that the social networking site currently boasts more than 200 million monthly active users.
This is up from March 2012’s active user tally of 140 million users, who posted more than 340 million tweets per day or around a billion tweets every three days. By July 2012, Twitter had approximately 170 million daily active users and more than 500 million registered user accounts.
Although the daily active user tally of Twitter is very impressive, it falls far short of the more than one billion user tally and 584 million average daily active users (as of September 2012) for social networking behemoth Facebook.
“There are now more than 200M monthly active @twitter users. You are the pulse of the planet. We’re grateful for your ongoing support!” a tweet by the popular microblogging destination read.
