Earlier this week at the E3 expo in Los Angeles, mega publishers Ubisoft unveiled that it's developing a full five titles for Nintendo's newly unveiled console, the Wii U.

One of the first big publishers to reveal major support for the new device, Ubisoft is set to bring Assassin's Creed, Rabbids and Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Online to the Wii U.

It also announced the development of two completely new IPs for the system, one being a “revolutionary first person shooter for the hardcore audience”, and the other being a multi-sports family title.

“Nintendo is an industry reference for game design and accessibility. We are very honored to be a strong part of this new chapter of the videogame industry,” said Yves Guillemot, Ubisoft CEO. “With the combination of technologies brought together by this console, our creative teams will be able to take the Ubisoft vision of developing rich, immersive and innovative gaming experiences for all audiences even further.”

In addition to revealing broad support for Nintendo's new platform, the French publisher also announced the development of Far Cry 3 and Brothers in Arms Furious 4, thus ensuring the revitalisation of two popular veteran shooter franchises.

It remains to be seen whether Ubisoft's hardcore FPS for the Wii U will be a success, with Nintendo consoles in the past not exactly being the home of the shooter crowd.
