Updated version of Twitter for Android released

First amongst the new features is push notifications, which enables users to instantly receive notifications of Twitter updates. Users will now automatically be notified of a @Mention or received Direct Messages, via the Android pull-down notification bar. Users should just make sure that they have selected “automatic refresh” in their account settings.
The second new feature within this updated version of Twitter for Android is the ability to employ multiple accounts on Twitter for Android, without ever having to log out. Users will now be able to easily switch between accounts, for example their own personal Twitter account and one they utilise for work.

Additional features include an enhancement of the look of the home-screen widgets as well as some bug fixes. Users can download this updated version of Twitter for Android from Google’s Android Market.
Twitter also recently announced that there are now more than a million registered Twitter apps available online, up from a mere 150 000 apps a year ago.
