Tech savvy Xmas shoppers have a completely different list this holiday season - one that reflects increasing demand for premium brands, new product categories as well as the latest ranges. This, according to DionWired general manager, Andrew Jackson, mentioning that this is the reason why DionWired created the ultimate digital wonderland shopping experience for Xmas entitled the ‘Imaginarium’.

Jackson explained that, amongst others, DionWired customers’ Imaginarium shopping lists for Xmas included:

Windows 8-powered Slate and Hybrid notebook devices including the HP envy X2,  Lenovo Yoga, and Samsung ATIV Smart PC. The latter incorporates the versatility of touchscreen technology along with a detachable keyboard.

According to DionWired, iOS, Windows 8, and Android running tablets should also be a hot holiday sales ticket, as a result of prices that have dropped while the list of available options have grown. The company stated that 3G-enabled models have been the most popular purchases thus far, as a result of the affordability of bundled data contract rebates and the monthly premiums for these devices.

Ultrabooks: These new generation notebook PCs offer increased portability, and with prices now starting from under R10 000, Dion Wired has been experiencing significant demand and sales growth for them.

Apple’s iPad Mini: If this tablet arrives on time before Xmas, DionWired expects sales to rocket, with demand outstripping supply, considering that it is estimated to retail for around R3 000.

Smartphones is also likely to be a Xmas gift priority for shoppers with DionWired highlighting the popularity of Samsung’s Galaxy S3 (review) as well as the new Galaxy Note 2 phablet. Should the iPhone 5 arrive in time for Christmas, the retailer asserted that demand will surge both from a long list of pre-order customers as well as new Christmas buyers.

Large format HDTV: DionWired believes that as 55", 65", 75"and even 85" become more affordable, these TV sets will also become more popular with shoppers. The firm said that the 4k/Ultra Definition and Smart TVs provide the best reasons for users to upgrade their sets.

Mirrorless camera technology: These snappers combine the benefits of small compact cameras with the features and functionality of SLR cameras.

“We are inviting our customers to ignite all their senses as we showcase the latest premium branded electronics and appliances that appeal to their sense of sight, taste, touch, smell and hearing. Whatever their dream lifestyle, DionWired is there to bring its customers’ imaginations to life and inspire them to experience what is possible,” Jackson concluded.

In other local retailer related news, Zando.co.za, South Africa’s largest fashion e-commerce retailer, recently announced an investment of €20 million by growth equity investor Summit Partners. The firm will take a stake in Zando.co.za through its German holding company.
