iPad newspaper delayed
By Johan Keyter 17 January 2011 | Categories: newsLast week we reported that Apple and News Corp was planning to launch the world's first iPad-only newspaper, The Daily, on the 19th of January (this Wednesday).
Now however, news has leaked that the digital newspaper will not be making its debut on the planned date. According to All Things Digital, Apple and News Corp have cancelled Wednesday's planned launch. It is thought that the delay will last for a number of weeks.
News Corp chairman Rupert Murdoch along with Apple CEO Steve Jobs, two of the most powerful men in the consumer media industry, was expected to speak at the paper's launch this week.
It is believed that one of the reasons for the delay is that Apple is still currently working on updating its iTunes software to introduce a subscription service that can automatically bill readers of The Daily on a weekly or monthly basis for receiving the digital newspaper every morning.
Previously it has been reported that The Daily already has a staff of about 100 journalists working for it, with the publication being touted as one of News Corp's most important new ventures. In addition to traditional news pieces, it is believed that The Daily will also sport video reporting.
At this stage it is unclear as to when The Daily will finally have its digital debut.
