The TomTom GO 720 has been generating a lot more buzz than most other GPS units released recently. This is not ill deserved attention either. The GO 720 isn’t just boosted by new specs; it represents the first in a new generation of devices that TomTom has to offer.

For the latest, top of the line GPS units, the 720 has all the right bases covered. It has text-to-speech, pronunciation of street names, audio output to your cars speakers, the latest (up to date) maps of the entire Southern Africa and a very large 4x3 inches wide screen screen.

The directions given are very clear and accurate and you are easily able to take a different route by using the “Find Alternative” option. The maps installed on the unit are feature rich and even customisable. If, for instance, you find a road that leads to the all-too-familiar boomed-up entrance, you can change it on the map and send it to TomTom’s website, where others can download it.

PROS
The GO720 offers customisable maps, text-to-speech, integrated Bluetooth and great multimedia functionality.
CONS
It doesn???t have external volume controls and not all Bluetooth devices are compatible.
