With looming blackouts, having a torch ready in case of emergency is an absolute must. A new proposition from Energizer goes one step further. Instead of just providing a regular spotlight, the Energizer Fusion 2 in 1 Standing Light includes an area light that provides lamp-like lighting in, for example, your kitchen area.

It’s easy to see this being a great light for camping purposes and in the garage, since also onboard are two fold-out legs, while the directional light’s head can tilt. This transforms the Energizer in a task light, shining light exactly in the spot where you want it.

Light as you want it

Energizer clocks the brightness of the LED area light at 100 lumens and the spotlight at 125 lumens, sufficiently bright for most circumstances without being overtly so. If you do however find that either the directional or area lamp is too bright, hold the power button to dim it.

If you want directional light, the Energizer's titable head can do that too.

As a flashlight the Energizer works well, just don’t expect LED Lenser or Maglite performance from it. Although made from plastic, Energiser believes the unit is drop-proof from about 1 metre, while it’s also water resistant, noting that it should last 20 years. General build quality is sufficient, but it would be good not to put too much pressure on the fold-out legs, which seem to be the weakest link in the setup. The LED lights are powered by four AA batteries, which can be slotted in by screwing open the top. Energizer is kind enough to include your first four in the unit itself.

A good buy

The Energizer Fusion 2 in 1 Standing Light is certainly an interesting product that offers that much more than just a regular flashlight. With its fold-out legs and area lamp, it’s almost a must have for camping trips, while its the tiltable flashlight head comes in handy in conditions where directional light is imperative. It comes with an RRP of R380, visit Energizer for more info.

Full disclosure: Product was received as a seeding unit.
