Bloodborne (review) was a bloody tough and hellaciously good game. Now, it looks like Bloodborne’s fearsome world is extending a clawed and skeletal hand to drag you back in.

We speak not just of the forthcoming expansion, The Old Hunters, but also of news that the forthcoming patch will bring new features to the fore for all owners of the original game, for gratis. Most enticingly, the patch will bring with it The League, a band of Hunters (think the complete opposite of a boy band)

On the PlayStation blog, Masaaki Yamagiwa,  the producer for Sony Computer Entertainment Japan Studio, explained that by aligning yourself to The League, led by a mysterious figure in a constable’s garb and bucket helmet, you can assist other players online in the game and compete in The League’s online rankings leaderboard.

In addition to The League, players will also be able to use The League cane and summon co-op NPCs within the game, perfect for tackling challenging areas and bosses, because the latter are known for being anything but easy to defeat.

Additionally, hardcore Bloodborne players are set to receive a little extra love, as players who have already earned a Platinum Trophy can look forward to receiving a voucher code for an exclusive PS4 theme.

While the exact date of when the patch will arrive has not yet been disclosed, The Old Hunters is coming inexorably closer, eerily chanting in unison and wearing a leering smile, due to haunt your dreams come 24th November.
