Apple may have $1K-plus iPhone on the way to mark 10th anniversary
By Robin-Leigh Chetty 9 February 2017 | Categories: newsThis year marks the 10th anniversary of the Apple iPhone. While the Cupertino-based company has not officially detailed any plans to mark the occasion, according to Fast Company, Apple may have a third iPhone to unveil later this year alongside its usual standard and Plus versions.
Fast Company expects Apple to debut the iPhone 7s and 7s Plus, sized at 4.7" and 5.5" respectively, but over and above this, a 5.8" model is also anticipated. As for the name, they believe it will be called the iPhone 8 and will feature an edgeless OLED display.
According to Engadget, in order to keep with the 10th anniversary theme, the device may rather be called the iPhone X (Roman numeral for 10). Added to this, the anniversary iPhone could cost more than $1 000 if it in fact does go on sale, with the size of the OLED display accounting for much of that price.
Along with an edgeless display, the iPhone 8/iPhone X may also feature no physical home button, as rumours have suggested, as well as having touch sensitive inlays on the frame of the device to serve as the volume rocker, power and hold buttons.
At this stage, much of this is conjecture, but hopefully more clarity will come as the year rolls on.
