Apple now powered by 100% renewable energy
By Robin-Leigh Chetty 10 April 2018 | Categories: newsApple made a significant announcement regarding its renewable energy plans, with the company's worldwide operations now 100% compliant. They've made a major push into green solutions over the past few years, having reached the 93% mark a little over two years ago.
The current milestone means that all of Apple's supply chain and physical infrastructure are based on renewable energy. They were able to reach the 100% mark after nine of their suppliers made the move to renewable energy.
Making the shift to green is something that many of the major tech companies are aiming for, with Google recently announcing that it purchases enough renewable energy to offset its global energy consumption.
While this is a significant step for Apple, it still has some way to go until its entire business is powered by renewable energy, with its iStores still reliant on the power grids of the cities they're in, as well as the manufacturing of some of its device components.
That said, it's still a noteworthy benchmark for the Apple.
