Whatever your opinion of the iPhone X, its status as one of the most talked about devices of last year cannot be denied. The all-screen design and Face ID sporting smartphone has reportedly not won over as many fans as Apple may have been anticipating. This according to industry analyst Ming-Chi Kuo of KGI Securities, with production of the iPhone X said to be ending later this year.

Kuo adds that consumers in China have not taken well to the design of the iPhone X, with the notch at the top of the screen proving a particular eyesore for those in the region. He does, however note that sales alone are not the only reason for production stopping, as Apple is also expected to begin manufacturing new models in September and unveiling them shortly thereafter.

KGI estimates the new models will boost Apple sales by 10% by the end of the year, which is rumoured to include a second gen of the iPhone X, as well as a 6.1" iPhone SE. Whether or not a lineup of new devices can return some of Apple's lost lustre, remains to be seen.
