Apple's latest flagships, the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus, start their local release today. In the US, however, where the devices have been on sale for a few weeks now, the company will begin to sell unlocked versions of both devices. The SIM-free iPhone 7's will reportedly work on any Stateside-based carrier.

Pricing for these unlocked models start at $649 and $769 for the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus respectively, which is exactly the same price they were at launch. Furthermore, Apple will also make unlocked versions of the devices available in all the new iPhone 7 colours and storage options. The devices are on sale online via the US Apple store, but The Verge says physical retailers should receive the devices in coming weeks.

As for whether or not unlocked devices will ever land locally, the chances are slim to none, especially as local networks aren't keen on SIM-free smartphones.
