Asimov’s Foundation picked up by Apple as TV series
By Staff Writer 11 April 2018 | Categories: newsSci-fi fans might have wondered why one of the most seminal works in science-fiction, Isaac Asimov’s Foundation trilogy, has not been made into a series. It is a daunting prospect, with a storyline with more twists and turns than a washing machine full of spaghetti, and many studios, including Fox, HBO and Warner Bros, have found the effort just too much.
Hopefully the folks over at Apple can show some true grit, as Deadline reports Cupertino has now picked up the rights for a Foundation TV series. Skydance Television is involved, with the company responsible for producing shows so diverse as Altered Carbon and Grace and Frankie. Josh Friedman, who wrote the film adaption of War of the Worlds, plus David S. Goyer, writer for Man of Steel and The Dark Knight Rises, are set to be executive producers and showrunners.
No stars have been tied to the Foundation project yet, with the same ringing true for a director. As for a time frame for this TV series to arrive, don’t expect it anytime soon.
