Aston Martin and Red Bull team up for the AM-RB 001 Hypercar
By Robin-Leigh Chetty 6 July 2016 | Categories: newsWhat happens when a British supercar chugs a crate load of Red Bull? The AM-RB 001 Hypercar, that's what. This special project is the culmination of a collaboration between Aston Martin and Red Bull Racing, and is easily one of the more radical cars we've seen from the British carmaker in quite some time.
What makes this speedster special? For one, it's packing a V12 engine under the bonnet, which is suited in the middle of the chassis for optimum balance. Secondly, it has been meticulously engineered, with Aston Martin claiming that it's achieved a perfect 1:1 power-to-weight ratio, with 1 bhp (0.75 kW) per kilogram of weight.
Unfortunately, Aston Martin has not disclosed what the 0-100 km/h time or top speed of this hypercar is, but we're guessing that it has its eyes set on the McLaren P1's mark of 2.8 seconds to reach 100 km/h from a standstill.
In terms of availability, Aston Martin has slated the AM-RB 001 for release in 2018. A more precise date is unknown, as is price, but it's reported that 25 track-specific models will be manufactured. For the road, the British carmaker plans to build between 99 and 150 units. As such, those with plenty cash to splash should get in contact with their local dealer to find out the finer details about this highly coveted hypercar.
