Ben Affleck's Batman movie will be called The Batman
By Robin-Leigh Chetty 4 October 2016 | Categories: newsWhat's in a name? When it comes to superhero films, quite a bit. For Ben Affleck's 2018 Batman solo movie, which the director/star has been drip-feeding information about, he's gone for The Batman. That may change, however, but it's what Affleck is sticking with for now. The actor confirmed the title to an Associated Press reporter during an interview for his upcoming film, The Accountant.
"The movie I think is going to be called The Batman. At least, that's what we're going with now," Affleck said after revealing the title. "I might change it," he stated. Adding, "we're working on the script, the script is going well. I'm really excited about it."
As far as what The Batman will entail, little is known at this stage, apart from the inclusion of Deathstroke (played by True Blood's Joe Manganiello) as the main villain. What that means for the Dark Knight's nemesis, the Joker (Jared Leto), along with the events following next year's Justice League film remains to be seen.
With Dawn of Justice and Suicide Squad both garnering mixed reactions, we're hoping Justice League can turn the tide for DC, and The Batman can return the Caped Crusader to the halcyon Nolan days.
