Polyphony Digital, the developers behind the popular Gran Turismo racing series, have not detailed when their latest effort, Gran Turismo Sport, will be landing on PS4 consoles, but it is slated for later this year. While fans of the franchise anxiously await the game's arrival, there is some respite in the form of a closed beta landing later this month.

The more precise date pegs it down for 17 March in the States, with Polyphony stating that other regions will receive their closed beta access in following weeks. To mark the announcement, a trailer has also been released, showcasing the visual aspects that Polyphony has been refining for the game to date.

As for the gameplay, we'll get a better idea of that when the closed beta becomes available locally. Until then, hit play on the announcement trailer below.
