Cowboy Bebop to get Netflix live-action series
By Staff Writer 28 November 2018 | Categories: newsNetflix gives and Netflix takes away. After the awesome news that the streaming service will host all 26 episodes of Neon Genesis Evangelion, plus the two movies, The End of Evangelion & Evangelion: Death (True) 2 at the start of our autumn, comes the bad.
Netflix hasn’t quite got the reputation for getting live-action remakes right (just think of Death Note and Bleach), so when news broke that Cowboy Bebop is getting the remake treatment, well, it can go anywhere to be honest.

Here’s what we know so far, at least according to Variety: Netflix has ordered ten episodes, to be produced by Tomorrow Studios, which has been busy with this from last year already. They have roped in the talents of those who worked on the 1998 series, with the likes of the original director, Shinichiro Watanabe set to be a consultant. Masayuki Ozaki, Yasuo Miyakawa and Shin Sasaki of Sunrise Inc., the studio which developed Cowboy Bebop, are also onboard as executive producers. Netflix noted that the first episode of the remake is written by Thor: Ragnarok’s Chris Yost.
And here’s what’s currently still unclear: No word yet on the directorial duties or the actors set to play the role of the bounty hunters, Spike Spiegel, Jet Black, Faye Valentine and Radical Ed. There’s also no release date just yet, although we think it’s safe to say we’ll only see this next year.
