DICE readying Death Star and Cloud City maps for Star Wars Battlefront
By Robin-Leigh Chetty 27 January 2016 | Categories: newsStar Wars Battlefront was a little hit and miss for us. While the opportunity to play as some of the most iconic characters in the Star Wars universe was too good to pass up, the game lacked the necessary content to keep you coming back. Developers, DICE, have tried to address this by bringing a slew of DLC to the game. In December last year, the Battle of Jakku was added to the mix, and now DICE is prepping more DLC for the rest of 2016, with the first batch arriving today.
The range of DLC porting to PCs and next-gen consoles include a new Tatooine survival map, Battle of Hoth themed outfits for icons like Luke Skywalker and Han Solo, as well as the introduction of Private Matches. Added to this is Community events and Daily challenges, opening up the opportunity to earn some highly coveted credits to use in-game. DICE also has new content lined up for February and March, with larger maps for game modes like Walker Assault and Fighter Squadron incoming.
The truly worthwhile DLC though will come to Season Pass holders, as an array of new maps are expected throughout 2016. Among these are the Cloud City of Bespin in mid-2016 (no confirmation of Lando Calrissian) and the Death Star a couple of months after that.
It seems then that much like Destiny, the value of purchasing Star Wars Battlefront will only be experienced a few months after its initial release.
