Destiny gamers can trial The Taken King's Crucible for free
By Robin-Leigh Chetty 4 September 2015 | Categories: newsWe've been covering all The Taken King news to come out of Bungie ever since the expansion was detailed at E3 this year. With its official release dated for 15 September, developers Bungie have decided to make the Crucible maps and modes within the expansion free to trial to all of its gamers. The free trial will start on 8 September, running up until the expansion's release the following week.
For those unfamiliar with the Crucible in Destiny, it's the pretty aptly named portion of the game where players can test their mettle against one another in a range of different maps. The Taken King's Crucible will bring roughly eight new maps to the fore, with an additional one exclusive to the PlayStation (PS3, PS4) ecosystem.
This tactic is nothing new, Destiny gamers also received similar seven day trials before the release of both The Dark Below and House of Wolves expansions. While new maps and modes will be available to access in this free trial, Bungie has confirmed to Polygon that the three new Guardian sub-classes (Sunbreaker, Stormcaller and Nightstalker) will not be included in this preview.
